Sometimes...

A group of Irish children jeering at a British soldier in Derry, Northern Ireland sometime in 1972.I LOVE this picture.

The history of our family growing Alberta barley dates back to 1929. It began when our great grandparents, with their six children, immigrated from Ireland ?? to homestead in Penhold, Alberta.

Four generations later we still farm the same land and have started Albertas first craft malthouse, with Canada’s first malt roaster! We are incredibly proud of our Irish history and grateful to those early days that have led us to where we are now.

This photo is from the National Library of Ireland collection and is dated Thursday, 14 July 1921 (at approximately 17:30), outside Downing Street as De Valera met Lloyd George, at the first of four meetings held between the two in July 1921.

Three women at the front have rosary beads, there is a small picture of the Sacred heart stitched on to the tricolour.
